Mountain Getaways in the Blue Ridge MountainsIt's Back to School time for us, which means our day-to-day is even busier than usual, with a mix of buying school supplies, planning out the change in schedule, plus our three Go With Garrett's Golf Cars and Specialty Vehicles locations.

It's just the middle of August and we're thinking we could use a vacation!

If you've been thinking about a weekend getaway in the mountains to recover from all that summer fun coming to an end, we are totally right there with you.

Here are three of our top picks for a long weekend in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Bryson City: Old-Fashioned Charm and Cool Mountain Air

There's just something about taking a quiet weekend away to relax, isn't there?

Stay at the historic Fryemont Inn in Bryson City, NC, and you'll get to enjoy true peace and quiet! Breakfast and dinner are included in your nightly rate, helping you save on meal costs, and you'll never sleep so well as in the old-fashioned beds with your windows open to the cool mountain air.

Explore downtown Bryson City's local shops and the newly-developed and recently opened Swain County Heritage Museum to learn more about local history. Cool fall days are perfect for strolling by the river in the park. We recommend stopping for lunch at the Filling Station Deli

Interested in something active, or searching for something to do with the kids? Bryson City is right near some great hiking options, including Deep Creek and "The Road to Nowhere". There's also, of course, the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad!

During the fall, the Peanuts Pumpkin Patch Express is an experience the whole family won't want to miss!

Golf At a Higher Level With the Blue Ridge Parkway Golf Trail

Are you an avid golfer looking for a way to enjoy your favorite hobby without baking under the late-summer sun? Head up into the mountains to enjoy the Blue Ridge Parkway Golf Trail!

The Blue Ridge Parkway is a scenic highway that winds throughout the Blue Ridge Mountains, taking you past stunning vistas and gorgeous views for all of its 546 miles. The Golf Trail is a series of golf courses that have banded together to provide the ultimate golfer getaway!

Play near beautiful waterfalls, fairways with fishing streams, hiking trails, and more. You'll try out new courses everywhere from Virginia through to Cherokee, North Carolina. Lodging options include log homes, golf resorts, hotels, and just about anything you imagine.

Take Your ATV to Chattahoochee National Forest!

If your idea of a weekend getaway involves more time in the mud than it does plotting your tee times, Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest has OHV trails designed especially for you!

Take your Onslaught 550 EPS ATV out on designated trails and enjoy beautiful forests all around. Campsites are available, or you can choose to look into local hotels less than 10 miles from the park. Choose a resort with on-site dining options, or head into nearby Clayton to eat at the Wicked Pig BBQ... one of our favorite barbecue spots in Georgia!

Some of the trails designed for off-road vehicles do charge a daily fee, so make sure you take a look online before you head out!
