How to Make the Most of Your South Carolina Beach Vacation

Golf Cart rentalsThere's nothing quite like a walk along one of South Carolina's beautiful beaches — you'll see children running in and out of the surf, dogs playing fetch in the water, and seabirds following anyone with food in hand. Whether you head down to the coast for regular vacations or it's your very first time, odds are good you're wondering how to truly make the most of your time in the sand.

1. Invest in Quality (And Not-So-Quality) Sandals

Whether you're in Charleston, Hilton Head, or down at Garden City, you'll need inexpensive flip-flops for time spent in the sand. Don't wear anything that costs more than a few dollars — it'll end up full of sand anyway. We always just pack two or three cheap pairs of flip-flops to switch out during our trips. Did you forget to grab any before you left? No problem! Inexpensive flip-flops are widely available in just about any beach-friendly store.

For those days you head into town for shopping, hitting up the amazing local restaurants , or spending a day relaxing at Battery Park, you'll need something with a little more support. We still rely on sandals, of course, but for long days of walking you'll want a high quality pair made to stand up both to city sidewalks and playing frisbee in the park.

2. Head Inland For Local Gems

While the beaches contain truly gorgeous views up and down South Carolina's coast, it's also worth a trip inland to check out the wonderful small towns that are just waiting for you to visit! Shop at locally-owned stores selling everything from sweetgrass baskets to handmade ceramics and jewelry to clothing designed for the ocean breeze. Local restaurants will make sure you experience the very best South Carolina has to offer when it comes to seafood (whether it's a high-end dinner or good old shrimp and grits for breakfast!), and you may find yourselves skipping the beach crowds during the busy times of day just to get a few more minutes enjoying the friendly small-town feeling our state specializes in.

3. Rent a Golf Cart to Get Around

We've found that many of our clients and friends rent beach houses or condos during their vacations in Charleston, Myrtle Beach, or other beachside cities and towns. This helps to save on hotel costs, but there's another way to save on costs during beach vacations, too... renting a golf cart! A quality golf cart will help you get from your beach house to the sands of your favorite restaurant and back without having to waste gasoline or lose the feeling of the breeze through your hair. Our Mt. Pleasant location has many different golf carts to offer for those staying in Charleston (we can even provide delivery out to Isle of Palms or Sullivan's Island!) and you'll love the ease of being able to hop in your golf cart and head off on an adventure.
