Buying or owning a golf cart can be complicated. The brand, the color, the customization options, and the tire types are all factors that need to be considered at some point in the process.
Today we’re going to look at some different styles of golf cart tires and help you choose the ideal tire style to meet your needs.
Turf/Street Golf Cart Tires
Turf and street style golf cart tires are by far the most common tires you’ll see on a golf cart, and unless you’ve had any customizations done to your cart, they are very likely the type of tire your cart uses.
Turf/street style tires are designed to be sensitive to golf course turf and provide the smoothest ride possible. If you only intend to drive the cart around your neighborhood or on the golf course, sticking with your factory golf cart tires is probably the best option for you. However, if you plan to do more than just drive back and forth to the pool or run over to the course for a quick back 9, read on to learn about some other tire choices!
Off-Road Golf Cart Tires
The next type of golf cart tire we’ll look at is designed for off-road use. Off-road golf cart tires will have knob-like treads for gripping uneven surfaces and providing extra traction when driving in wooded or rocky areas.
If you plan to use your golf cart for hunting trips or camping expeditions, off-road tires are the way to go. However, off-road tires make for an extremely bumpy ride when driving on the street and also aren’t allowed on golf courses, so you’ll need to keep that in mind when choosing which tires to get for your cart.
All-Terrain Golf Cart Tires
Finally, let’s take a look at all-terrain golf cart tires. While all-terrain golf cart tires still aren’t allowed on the golf course, they make for a much smoother ride on pavement than off-road ones do.
Like the off-road tires, all-terrain tires have knobby treads, but are much shallower than their off-road counterparts. These tires are designed to give you the best of both worlds -- enough grip to give you traction while out in the woods or on the beach, but not so much that road driving is uncomfortable.
